Couple in 60s Die in Motorcycle Crash

A 69-year-old motorcycle rider and his 62-year-old woman passenger were fatally injured Thursday when the cycle crashed on the San Diego Freeway in San Juan Capistrano, the California Highway Patrol said.

The identities of the two people were not immediately released, pending notification of relatives.

The CHP said the motorcyclists were southbound just south of San Juan Creek about 2 p.m. when the man lost control of the motorcycle. The vehicle was traveling about 60 m.p.h., the CHP said.

The two were taken to Mission Community Hospital in Mission Viejo, where the woman was pronounced dead on arrival. The man died at the hospital about three hours after the accident, according to the Orange County coroner’s office.
