42,704 Suffer AIDS Worldwide, U.N. Says

GENEVA — The U.N. World Health Organization said Friday that the number of AIDS cases reported worldwide rose to 42,704 this week with notifications from 91 countries, and the United States accounts for three-quarters of the total with 31,036 reported cases.
Reported cases of acquired immune deficiency syndrome have been rising by about 2,000 a month worldwide, the agency said.
