An unidentified driver who stopped at a red traffic light was shot and killed in front of his wife by an assailant who pulled up alongside him in another car, police said. The wife of the 37-year-old victim, whose names were withheld, was in the car when he was shot at Valley Boulevard and Del Paso Avenue in the Lincoln Heights area of Los Angeles about 10:30 a.m., Police Detective Robert Suter said. The assailant apparently fired five shots into the victim’s vehicle, which accelerated forward and crashed into a building after the driver was struck by a bullet, Suter said. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital a short time later. Police had no suspects.
