Prep Roundup : Blake Leads Fountain Valley to Win in Softball Over La Quinta, 4-2

Jacki Blake (2-0) struck out 10, walked 2 and allowed 4 hits to lead Fountain Valley to a 4-2 victory over La Quinta in a nonleague girls’ softball game at La Quinta.
Fountain Valley (3-0) scored twice in the fifth on a double steal followed by a wild pitch. La Quinta made five errors.
St. Lucy 4, Rosary 3--Patti Carr went 1 for 2 with an RBI in the Royalettes’ loss at St. Lucy. Suzi Canney (1-3) was the losing pitcher for Rosary (2-3).
Edison 1-3, Buena Park 0-2--Debbie Meza singled in the winning run in the top of the seventh for the Chargers at Buena Park. Terry Carpenter (4-1) was the winning pitcher.
In the second game, winning pitcher Dena Baker (1-0) was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs for Edison (5-1) .
In boys’ swimming:
Huntington Beach 100, Long Beach Poly 54--Craig Doyle won the 200 and 500 freestyle and anchored the winning 400 freestyle relay for the Oilers in a nonconference meet at Huntington Beach. Chad Puls won the 50 and 100 freestyle and anchored the 200 medley relay. The Oilers (3-0) meet Woodbridge Friday at Huntington Beach at 3 p.m.
In girls’ swimming:
Bolsa Grande 110, Ocean View 48--Kim Larsen won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:13.7 for the Matadores (3-1) at Bolsa Grande.
In girls’ track and field:
Dana Hills 92, Laguna Beach 34--Kelly Lewis won the 1,600 meters (5:19) and Kirsten Quigley place second in the 3,200 meters (11:38) for the Dolphins (2-1). Megan Barrnet won the 3,200 meters (11:36.1).
In tennis:
Mater Dei 15, Fountain Valley 3--Dax Peterson (6-2, 6-0, 6-0) and Dan Jenkins (7-5, 6-3 6-1) swept their sets for the Monarchs (5-1) at the Costa Mesa Tennis Club. Pat Harnett and Mike Johnson swept their sets, 6-2, 6-0, 6-2, for Mater Dei.
In golf:
Edison 278, Long Beach Wilson 283--Darren Rivadeneyra and Brian Iechler of Edison and Jim Ehren of Long Beach Wilson each shot 51 at Sea Cliff Country Club in Huntington Beach.
Katella 230, Cypress 234--Darrin Jose shot 40 on a par-39 course to lead the Knights (1-0, 4-5)) in an Empire League tournament at Anaheim Hills Country Club.
Savana 208, Western 221--Scott Paul won with 36 at Dad Miller Golf Course in Anaheim (par 35) for the Rebels (2-1). Jeff Rodriguez of Savana shot 37 for second place.
