Orange County Prep Baseball : Pacifica Turns a Little Into a Lot to Win, 4-3

Pacifica High School got four runs on just four hits Wednesday en route to a 4-3 nonleague victory over Santiago at Pacifica.
The game was tied in the fifth inning, but Pacifica’s Oscar Ravello walked, went to second on a balk by pitcher Trinidad Cisneros and moved to third on a wild pitch. Ravello scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly.
Eric Voneps was 1 for 1 for Pacifica with a double and a run scored.
Santiago’s Ricardo Glarado was 3 for 4, and Tony Alfaro was 2 for 4 with a two-run triple. Santiago is 2-1.
In other nonleague games:
La Habra 2, Whittier Christian 0--Winning pitcher Jason Reese (2-0) pitched three innings and allowed no hits. La Habra (3-3) scored its runs in the second inning. Mark Grippi’s sacrifice fly scored Alan Newman, and Tim Moore singled to score Mike Fender.
Huntington Beach 7, Irvine 2--Third baseman Andy Lewin hit a grand slam in the fifth inning to lead the Oilers (7-2) at home. Lewin’s home run gave Huntington Beach a 6-0 lead. Winning pitcher Tim Wimbash pitched a complete game, striking out six batters. Huntington Beach’s Brad Walker was 2 for 3 with a double and one RBI.
El Dorado 14, Edgewood 2--The Golden Hawks (8-1) scored seven runs in the third inning to win at Edgewood. Winning pitcher Robert Coons (2-0) pitched five innings, allowed five hits and struck out four. El Dorado second baseman Bret Boone was 3 for 5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Scott Tomko was 2 for 4 with a double and a home run.
Anaheim 2, Trabuco Hills 1 (8 innings)--Greg Gristlanck’s pinch-hit RBI single in the eighth gave the Colonists their first victory of the season. Freshman pitcher Robert Fernandez struck out seven in eight innings for Anaheim (1-5).
Loara 7-15, Magnolia 3-7 (second game, 11 innings)--Brian Roberts hit a two-run home run in each game to lead Loara (7-0) to a sweep at Brookhurst Park in Anaheim.
Roberts, a senior, hit his first homer in the fourth inning of the first game. Jeff Patterson pitched a complete game, striking out eight, for the victory. Craig Clayton was 3 for 4 with two RBIs.
In the second game, Roberts’ two-run homer highlighted an eight-run 11th inning.
In the Serra tournament:
Orange Lutheran 6, Cantwell 1--Winning pitcher Scot Wire (3-1) pitched a five-hitter, striking out eight. Matt Wilson was 2 for 3 with a run scored for Orange Lutheran (5-3).
Crossroads 13, El Dorado JV 11 (11 innings)--El Dorado’s Jim Dodd had three hits, including two doubles, and five RBIs, but it was not enough. El Dorado’s JVs scored five runs in the seventh to tie the score, but had the winning run thrown out at the plate.
Servite JV 6, St. Monica 1--Winning pitcher Todd Jacobs (1-1) allowed two hits and struck out seven. Jacobs, a sophomore, also hit a home run.
