FIRST OFF . . .

The delegation of eight Soviet film makers surveying the American movie-making world took in some of the non-cinematic sites of Southern California over the weekend--the Glen Ivy Hot Springs health spa on a rain-marred trek Saturday and Disneyland on a sunny Sunday. The weekend’s recreational breaks in the Entertainment Summit came amid two more meetings with Hollywood film makers, including a Beverly Hills session with studio executives examining the impediments to joint U.S.-Soviet film productions and a Sunday West Hollywood gathering with TV producers, writers and directors. Today’s schedule includes a 2 1/2-hour discussion between delegation head Elem Klimov and Oscar-winning director Syndey Pollack and a screening of U.S. and Soviet films at the American Film Institute in Hollywood. The Soviet group leaves for New York on Wednesday.
