The Nation : Storms Hit Kansas, Texas

Tornadoes swept through northwest Kansas, destroying one farm and damaging another near Codell, and thunderstorms spawned a series of twisters in the Texas Panhandle, downing power lines and trees in Lipscomb County. Another tornado touched down in Motley County northeast of Lubbock, Tex. No storm-related injuries were reported, authorities said. Baseball-size hail accumulated in drifts a foot deep in and around Plainville, Kan. In Texas, heavy rains and hail accompanied the funnels, which swept northeastward toward Oklahoma. Most of the violent weather was near Follett, on the Oklahoma border. An intense storm pounded northeast New Mexico.
