Police who had been trailing two men believed responsible for a string of armed robberies in north Texas shot and killed the suspects during a foiled restaurant holdup in Denton, Tex. Two officers were wounded during an exchange of gunfire at a crowded Pizza Hut but no other injuries were reported. One officer remained hospitalized. A police tactical unit from Fort Worth, 35 miles southwest of Denton, was following the pair because they were suspects in more than 20 armed robberies in Fort Worth and the armed robbery of a Taco Bueno in Denton, police said.
