DC-10 Engine Fails, Plane Lands Safely

LAS VEGAS — A DC-10 carrying 172 passengers made an emergency landing in Las Vegas Thursday after one of its engines went out.
The American Airlines jet, en route to Los Angeles from New York, landed safely shortly before noon at McCarran International Airport.
Airport spokeswoman Diana Rankin said the plane reportedly began experiencing vibrations after one of its three engines became disabled.
Emergency crews were on standby at the airport but were not needed when the plane landed without incident.
The passengers were transferred to another plane.
