Bakker Scandal and TV Ministries

I can’t avoid seeing a similarity between religion and pro wrestling. Oral Roberts, the Hulk Hogan of “pro religion,” is currently engaged in mortal combat with Satan (Andre the Giant?). Roberts was taped climbing into his tower to pray for an additional $1.3 million, as shown on his television show. Roberts claims God told him, “I’ll call you home,” if you lose.

Regardless of the outcome, can there be any doubt that a rematch will follow? I’m already eagerly awaiting the hype for Religion Mania II. Even Oral Roberts will have difficulty topping himself on the death threat, but rest assured, it will happen . . . and people will pay to see it.
