The Soviet Union came from behind to defeat Spain, 11-9, and tie Yugoslavia for first place in the men’s water polo World Cup tournament at Salonica, Greece.
In other games, the United States edged Cuba, 8-7; Italy beat top-ranked West Germany, 8-7, and Yugoslavia routed winless Greece, 12-4.
It was the first loss for West Germany in the week-long tournament which ends today.
