NIEUWPOORT, Belgium — The U.S. yacht Philadelphia left harbor just after midnight Saturday, 12 hours behind the other four boats which entered the transatlantic Constitution race.
The Philadelphia, skippered by John Kalish, had been rammed by a spectator craft one hour into the race, forcing it to return to port for repairs.
The race commemorates the 30th anniversary of the European Economic Community and the 200th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution.
