As I was trying to decide whether to subscribe to the L.A. Philharmonic’s series D or E ( both are sensational), I read the letters of May 17.
Bernheimer has turned us into a city of kvetches. We have a very good orchestra, a very good conductor, a fine auditorium, an outstanding program for next year and we complain.
For those who need flash and charisma, I suggest a series conducted by Reggie Jackson, Tom Lasorda and Joan Rivers. I’ll happily settle for Andre Previn, Simon Rattle, Kurt Sanderling and Christopher Hogwood and Zubin Mehta.
