U.S. to Sell Copters to Colombia

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon today notified Congress it has approved the sale of UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters to Colombia for use by its military in fighting drug traffickers.
Assuming there are no congressional objections, the Pentagon said Colombia will be offered a package deal including either five or six Blackhawk choppers. The purchase price will be the same in either event--$36 million--because the five-helicopter option includes additional spare parts, the Pentagon said.
