A pilot and his passenger escaped with minor injuries when their small plane crash-landed in a parking lot in Oxnard, hit two parked cars and burst into flames, police said. The pilot, Wieslaw Checianski, 58, told police his Cessna 150 was forced to land in the parking lot of Abex Corp. near the ocean after the plane’s engine stalled, Sgt. Chuck Dunham said. Checianski, who had taken off from Oxnard Airport minutes earlier, tried to avoid a building as he brought the plane down, but hit two parked cars. He and his passenger, Desiree Dunn, 22, scrambled from the aircraft before it and the two cars burst into flames. Both cars and the plane were demolished in the fire that also brought down telephone and power lines near the parking lot, cutting service to some area residents for a short time.
