Regarding the article (Editorial Pages, May 18), “Progress Is in the Eye of the Beholder”:
Superconductors may well increase the efficiency of electrical generators, and thus aid the ALCART program in India. Aluminum production requires a great deal of electrical power. Aluminum bullock carts require energy to produce.
As John Muir said, “When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe.”
