Scalpers were offering as much as 100,000 yen ($700) a ticket in front of Korakuen Stadium on Sunday night for the opening-night Tokyo concert by Madonna. A crowd estimated at 35,000 had to be restrained by 1,100 police and security guards throughout the show, which was postponed a day because of intense rainstorms. The tickets, originally sold for the yen equivalent of $45 and $35, sold out in a few hours when originally offered, and local promoters called the ducats “the hottest Tokyo ticket in years.” Madonna is scheduled to perform two more shows in Tokyo this week.
