The Welk Music Group has purchased the respected Vanguard Records catalogue (including works by such folk-related artists as the Weavers, Doc Watson and Joan Baez) and is releasing several double-album sets in single-disc CD formats. This one features Ian and Sylvia, the country-accented Canadian folk duo whose vocal stylings on these ‘60s recordings were immensely pleasing, but whose main strength was material: both original songs (such as “Four Strong Winds”) and works by such other writers as Bob Dylan, Gordon Lightfoot and Joni Mitchell. Sound quality: good. ***
