A preliminary hearing began behind closed doors for James Coddington, a South Lake Tahoe resident accused of murdering two elderly women and sexually assaulting two girls during a purported modeling session. El Dorado County Superior Court Judge Terrence Finney, declaring that the case already had received substantial pretrial publicity, overruled a lower court judge in ordering the proceedings closed to the public and to news reporters.
