SACRAMENTO — Mark Michalko resigned today as director of the California State Lottery, Gov. George Deukmejian announced.
The governor gave no reason for the resignation and Michalko could not be reached immediately. The resignation is effective in July. Michalko, 33, was legal counsel for the Ohio State Lottery before he was appointed to the California post in 1985. Deukmejian said the search for a successor has begun.
