Virginia Executes Killer

RICHMOND, Va. — A man convicted of strangling and slashing the throat of an elderly neighbor and sexually assaulting her corpse was electrocuted Monday. It was the first execution in Virginia in almost a year. Richard Lee Whitley, 41, was pronounced dead at 11:07 p.m., a state official said.
