Three people, including a 15-year-old girl visiting from Texas, were killed early Sunday morning in separate gang-related shootings in South Los Angeles and Compton, police said.
“It was a busy night,” said Los Angeles Police Detective Michael Anderson. “Some weekends you have several gang-related shootings and some you don’t have any.”
The Texas girl, whose name was withheld, was killed when gunshots from a passing car were fired into a crowd of youths at a party outside a home at 118th and Main Streets, police said. Three other youths were injured in the attack, which police said involved several local gangs.
About 45 minutes earlier, a South Los Angeles man was killed when several gunmen opened fire on members of several gangs who were holding a party in an alley behind the 4500 block of South Menlo Avenue, police said.
And in Compton, an 18-year-old man, standing in a driveway on the 200 block of North Willow Avenue, was killed when he was struck by one of several bullets fired from a nearby house, Compton police said.
