Newport Beach Pair Wins 50-and-Over Title

PHILADELPHIA — Bob Duesler and Jim Nelson of Newport Beach won the U.S. 50-and-over Grass Court Tennis Doubles championship Saturday by outlasting Bill Davis of Palm Springs and Russell Seymour of Spice Wood, Tex., 5-7, 6-3, 6-2.
Duesler and Nelson lost to Keith Diepraam of Sugarland, Tex. and Paul Christian of Germantown, Tenn., 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, in the 45-and-over title match.
Chuck DeVoe of Indianapolis and John Powless of Madison, Wis., captured the 55-and-over championship with a victory over Jason Morton of Sun Lakes, Ariz. and Seymour, 6-3, 7-6, (7-3).
