HONOLULU — A judge has agreed to perform a wedding for a thief and his girlfriend before sentencing the bridegroom to prison.
Acting Circuit Judge Hiroshi Oshiro has approved a request from Ricardo Rellin, 31, of Makaha, that he be allowed to marry on Oct. 19, the same day he is to be sentenced. Rellin, who was convicted of automobile theft, is being held in lieu of $190,000 bond.
Oshiro said he warned Rellin that he would not be swayed when it came time to sentence him for the theft. Rellin faces a mandatory sentence of at least three years in prison and a maximum of 10 years.
