South African Flood Death Toll Reaches 269

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa — The official death toll from floods last week in Natal province rose Friday to 269, and South African radio, citing police estimates, said the final toll may exceed 400.
At least 154 people were still reported missing and 57,000 people remain homeless in the wake of record flooding that struck the coastal province in southeastern South Africa.
