Hoover Changes Mind, Will Stay at Golden West

Fred Hoover, who announced his resignation as the baseball coach at Golden West a week ago to become an assistant at Cal State Fullerton, has changed his mind.
Hoover said he decided to stay at Golden West and pass on the chance of becoming an assistant at Fullerton to Larry Cochell, a long-time friend.
“It was the time element,” Hoover said. “We were seven weeks in with this team and it wasn’t a good time to leave the program.”
Hoover has a career record of 433-281 at Golden West and his teams have won or tied for seven conference championships.
Fullerton hasn’t picked a replacement for Hoover.
