Escape Ends in Death

TEXARKANA, Tex. — Two prisoners tried to flee the Bi-State Justice Building by climbing from a fourth-floor window down a too-short rope of knotted sheets. One died when the makeshift rope snapped and the other broke a leg jumping to the ground, officials said today.
