A Canadian infant who underwent a heart transplant last month is recovering well enough to leave Loma Linda University Medical Center, officials said. Six-week-old Mitchell Boyd underwent the organ transplant surgery on Oct. 26, just 11 days after his birth. The boy suffered from a usually fatal congenital heart defect called hypoplastic left heart syndrome. He was scheduled to be released from the hospital today.
