71,751 AIDS Cases Reported in World

GENEVA — The number of reported AIDS cases has risen to 71,751 worldwide, with large increases in the United States and Africa, the World Health Organization said Friday.
There are 47,022 reported cases of the deadly disease in the United States, according to the U.N. agency’s latest figures, which reflect data received by WHO as of Wednesday.
Uganda, reporting the highest total in Africa, listed 1,231 new cases between Feb. 28 and Oct. 31 for a total of 2,369. Uganda ranked third in the global tally of the disease, after the United States and France, the latter with 2,523 reported cases.
Cases of AIDS have been reported in 128 countries. Thirty-two nations reported no cases.
