The government of British Columbia has announced a $763.4-million ($1 billion Canadian) pulp and paper project with a Japanese forest products company.
Economic Development Minister Grace McCarthy said Oji Paper Ltd. would link with the Howe Sound Pulp division of CanFor Corp. to build a $267-million newsprint mill at Port Mellon, near Vancouver. The remaining $496 million would be used over the next three years to expand existing mills in the area.
