Authorities identified a scuba diver who died in the ocean off Anacapa Island as Richard Melton, 41, of Littlerock. Melton’s body was spotted floating off the stern of the 41-foot vessel Peate near a popular diving spot, the Coast Guard said. Authorities said Melton was an experienced diver and his equipment appeared to be in working order. An autopsy was scheduled.
