College Basketball Roundup : Fullerton Women Use Strong Defense to Seal 71-53 Victory Over Weber State

Cal State Fullerton used a strong defense to defeat Weber State, 71-53, in a nonconference women’s basketball game Saturday at Fullerton.
The Titans (5-3) overcame 39% shooting from the field, forcing Weber State (2-6) into 29 turnovers and allowing only 37 shots.
Cathi Hall (15 points, 5 rebounds) and Amy Torczon (14 points, 8 rebounds) led Fullerton. Felicia Benson and Jennifer Latta added 10 points each.
In another women’s game:
Chapman 82, Eastern Oregon State 67--Dana Dawson and Lisa Schumaker combined for 41 points for the Panthers at Chapman.
Dawson, a 5-foot 7-inch senior guard, hit 10 of 15 shots and finished with 24 points. Schumaker, a 6-foot junior center, made 8 of 11 for 17. She also had nine rebounds. Jennifer Uecke contributed 12 points and 8 rebounds for Chapman (6-3). Robyn Hedberg had 27 points for Eastern Oregon State.
Chapman shot 74% (25 of 34) in the second half after making just 12 of 38 in the first.
In a men’s nonconference game:
Pacific Christian College 101, West Coast Christian 82--Burton Lalk scored 26 points and Steve Welch added 23 to lead Pacific Christian at Fresno.
