Local News in Brief : Ice Closes Section of Las Virgenes Road

The California Highway Patrol closed a section of Las Virgenes Road near Agoura for eight hours Sunday morning after icy conditions caused two cars to spin out of control.
In separate accidents, the two vehicles hit the ice and skidded off the road shortly before 2 a.m., CHP Officer Diane Lowery said.
One vehicle went over a five-foot embankment, but no injuries were reported, Lowery said.
The road was closed a short time later from Mulholland Highway south to Piuma Road while county road workers tried to melt the ice with salt, Lowery said. They were unsuccessful, and the road remained closed until 10 a.m. when the ice melted.
