School Vote

I read the headline of The Times, (Metro, Dec. 8), “Parents at 14 Schools Vote Against Concept of Year-Round Classes.” I do not believe this type of a vote has any value in this situation. According to the story, the only people who had an opportunity to vote were the people who have children in one of the 14 schools.
This vote has left out two very large groups of people who also pay the taxes that support these schools. They are the people who do not yet have children or have no intention to have children. The vote also disregarded the people who have children in private schools.
My point is this, all the people in the Los Angeles area pay for these schools and will either reap the benefits of their success or pay for their failure. The people who pay should have a say.
