The following floats also won awards at the 99th Annual Tournament of Roses Parade:

Sweepstakes Trophy, most beautiful. Unocal Corp.’s “Kabuki: Communication Through the Arts” featuring classic Kabuki characters.

Director’s Award, craftmanship. Culver City’s “Fantasy on Film,” saluting the movie “Wizard of Oz.”

Theme Award, excellence in presentation. Eastman Kodak’s “A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words,” featuring an ever-changing assortment of intricate floragraphs depicting scenes from across the country.

Pioneer’s Trophy, portraying California tradition. Glendale’s “Messenger of Peace,” which portrays an Indian sending a peace message.

Judges Trophy, most whimsical. Carnation’s “Gift of Gab,” featuring five colorful talking birds.

Animation Trophy, best animation. Baskin-Robbins’ “Follow the Leader,” which features a performing pink elephant following the direction of a dancing mouse.

Governor’s Award for outstanding city entry. St. Louis’ “A Charles Dickens Christmas,” which has a team of Clydesdale horses pulling a depiction of a yuletide celebration in a 19th-Century hamlet.

International Trophy, most beautiful from outside the United States. Malaysia’s “Cultural Exchange,” which depicts the merchant of ancient Malaysia, who travels through the countryside in a cart pulled by a pair of bulls.

Tournament Special Award, exceptional merit. Santa Ana’s “Communication Through the Arts,” featuring primitive artworks from around the world.
