Cheech Marin Wins Award at Cuban Festival

Cheech Marin, writer, director and star of “Born in East L.A.,” was honored for his screenplay of the film at the ninth annual Festival of New Latin American Cinema held in Havana, Cuba, last month.
Marin’s first directorial effort, a comedy about a Mexican American who is mistakenly busted in an immigration raid, also won the Glauber Rocha award, named after the Brazilian film maker, and was acknowledged for best art direction.
