WASHINGTON — Two House Foreign Relations Committee Democrats will make a 10-day tour of the Persian Gulf, including Iraq, to discuss regional issues, Rep. Robert G. Toricelli (D-N.J.) said Thursday.
Toricelli said that he and California Rep. Mel Levine (Santa Monica), who with Toricelli serves on the committee’s Middle East subcommittee, will visit Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Oman, as well as make stops on U.S. warships patrolling the gulf.
The two, with Navy and State Department escorts, leave Sunday and return Jan. 19.
