Local News in Brief : Report Links Racist’s Visit With Vandalism
- Share via
A rash of racial vandalism in Glendale appears to be linked to a recent visit to the city by avowed racist and convicted church-bomber. Stoner, the Los Angeles County Commission on Human Relations concluded in a report issued Monday.
The report was requested last month by Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich, who asked commissioners to investigate whether the series of racial incidents was connected to Stoner’s Nov. 22 meeting at the Holiday Inn.
The three-page document, primarily a summary of recent anti-Semitic attacks in Glendale, contained no suggestions for battling racial hatred.
Gene Mornell, executive director of the human relations commission, said a more detailed report examining countywide hate crimes will be completed in February and will include suggestions on how to discourage them.
Antonovich said he will pursue any recommendations from the commission.
