Local News in Brief : Study on Contracting Jobs
- Share via
The Los Angeles Taxpayers Assn. has launched a study to find services offered by city and county government that can be done more cheaply by private businesses.
Board of Supervisors Chairman Deane Dana and John Ferraro, the president of the Los Angeles City Council, endorsed the study at a news conference Thursday. Results are due in the spring.
Research will be conducted by the Santa Monica-based Reason Foundation, which has a long history of advocating contracting public services. The California Tax Reduction Movement, a group founded by the late anti-tax crusader Howard Jarvis, has agreed to contribute $20,000 of the expense.
