Western Digital’s income dropped 24.5% to $8.3 million in the second quarter on a 40% increase in revenue to $160.7 million. The Irvine company blamed lower results on demand for lower-margin products, product pricing and product cost pressures related to its entries into the video and integrated systems markets, and heavy research and development expenditures.
