Local News in Brief : Forum on Black Politics

A nationwide televised conference on black politics, produced by an Inglewood telecommunications entrepreneur, will be broadcast on Wednesday.
Entitled “Political Empowerment: The Black Vote and Implications for the Future,” it is part of a five-part series of such conferences being broadcast on the Black College Satellite Telecommunications Network and sponsored by the University of the District of Columbia.
Curren Price, an Inglewood lawyer and telecommunications consultant, is the executive producer and originator of the project, which is intended to examine black political participation in the context of the 1988 presidential election campaign.
During Wednesday’s broadcast, students at black colleges and viewers at other universities and community forums around the country will watch a panel of elected officials, educators and political professionals discuss the history of black political participation and its implications for the Super Tuesday southern presidential primary in March. Price said the second program will be produced at the University of Southern California on Feb. 24.
