Local News in Brief : Irvine : Two Rob Restaurant at Gunpoint, Escape

Two gunmen held up a closed restaurant in Irvine early Monday after forcing an employee washing dishes to open the rear door, authorities said. No one was reported injured.
The pair escaped with an undetermined amount of cash and coins from Reuben’s Moonraker Restaurant after locking the dishwasher and restaurant manager in a side room, Irvine Police Sgt. Jeff Kermode said.
No customers were inside the restaurant in the 18500 block of MacArthur Boulevard when the 12:15 a.m. robbery occurred, Kermode said.
After forcing their way through the back door at gunpoint, the pair demanded money from the manager, police said.
The two men, described as being in their 20s, then fled on foot, Kermode said. No car was seen leaving the immediate area.
