LONDON — Britain said Thursday that it plans to sell eight Tornado fighter jets to Jordan in a $450-million deal agreed to by Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and King Hussein of Jordan.
The deal still must be signed. But a spokesman said Thatcher discussed the details Tuesday with Hussein, who is visiting London for dental treatment, and that she had agreed to the sale.
“Detailed discussions are under way and it is expected that these will soon lead to the contract’s signature,” a Defense Ministry spokesman said.
