Marquette University will officially join the Midwestern Collegiate Conference Sept. 1. The conference, created in 1979, includes Loyola of Chicago, Xavier of Cincinnati, Evansville, Detroit, Butler, St. Louis, Dayton and Notre Dame, which is an associate member. Its basketball team does not compete as a conference member.
