The National Basketball Assn. is investigating a fight that occurred between the wives of Seattle SuperSonics Dale Ellis and Alton Lister after Tuesday night’s game against the Lakers.
A team spokesman said Monique Ellis and Bobby Jo Lister fought outside the Sonic locker room 10 minutes after a 114-100 Seattle victory. Monique Ellis’ sister also was involved. The fight interrupted Coach Bernie Bickerstaff’s press conference in a room 150 feet away.
“The spokesman said: “This is a family matter. But we can’t hide it. The incident did occur. It’s embarrassing.”
The wives have argued several times in recent months, reportedly because Lister signed a four-year, $4.2-million contract during the exhibition season, while Ellis and the club failed to renegotiate his contract, which remains at $325,000 this year.
