The 1988 Loara High School baseball tournament starts today, with all 32 teams playing in opening-round games at 3 p.m.
Host Loara, which won the tournament last year, will open against Anaheim at Loara High School.
Southern Section 4-A champion Lakewood, the tournament’s top-seeded team, will play host to Santiago. Second-seeded El Dorado will play host to Dana Hills, third-seeded Diamond Bar will play host to Savanna, and fourth-seeded Servite will play host to Magnolia.
“It is a very even tournament,” said Ray Moore, Loara coach and tournament director. “It gives coaches a chance to see how their teams do against tough competition.”
Twenty-seven Orange County teams are competing in the tournament, which is in its eighth year.
The tournament is scheduled to run five days, with the championship slated for Saturday, March 12, at 6 p.m. at Glover Stadium.
