Floor Action:
Vandalism: Passed and sent to the governor on a 35-0 vote a bill (AB 1086) by Assemblyman Bill Jones (R-Fresno) to increase the maximum fine to $50,000 for vandalism causing more than $50,000 in damages.
Speed Limit: Passed and returned to the Assembly for concurrence in amendments on a 33-0 vote a bill (AB 1697) by Assemblyman Richard Katz (D-Sepulveda) to authorize increasing the speed limit to 60 or 65 m.p.h. on additional rural freeways.
Women: Passed and returned to the Assembly for concurrence in amendments on a 35-0 vote a resolution (ACR 98) by Assemblywoman Bev Hansen (D-Santa Rosa) to designate March as Women’s History Month and urge celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8.
Bill Introductions:
Driver’s Licenses: SB 2802 by Sen. Gary K. Hart (D-Santa Barbara) would require students to stay in school, get satisfactory grades and maintain good behavior in order to qualify to obtain driver’s licenses.
