Friends of the Performing Arts, support group for the San Diego Foundation for the Performing Arts, continues its complementary lecture series with “Minimalism to the Max in the Work of Laura Dean” Thursday at the La Jolla Marriott Hotel.
The program is designed to introduce people to the quirky style of the iconoclastic Dean. The celebrated post-modernist’s dance designs will be on display March 18-19 when Laura Dean Dancers and musicians perform at the Spreckels Theatre.
The La Mesa Department of Parks and Recreation is holding its annual Southern California Talent Contest May 13-15 in the Grossmont High School Auditorium. Children over the age of 6 and adults are invited to compete in various divisions of dance and performance, including tap, ballet, jazz, hula, Tahitian, acrobatics, vocal, instrumental, and novelty.
The organizers expect more than 400 entries. Entries are limited. You can call 469-4128 for more information.
