John H. Hanemann, senior partner of Prestige Metal Trading Co., has been elected to a two-year term as chairman of Commodity Exchange Inc., succeeding Alan J. Brody, who retains his position as president and chief executive.
The election represents the first time in the metal market’s 55-year history that a chairman has been directly elected by the full membership of the exchange. Hanemann has been a member of the exchange since 1970 and was first elected to the board in 1979. He was appointed chairman of the Floor Committee in 1979, a position he held until his election as chairman.
