UCLA Opens Home Track Season Today

UCLA’s track and field athletes, men and women, will open their home season today against Cal State Long Beach, Azusa Pacific and Cal State Northridge at Drake Stadium. Women’s field events begin at 11:30 a.m, men’s field events at 1 p.m.
UCLA freshman Kamy Keshmiri, the national high school record-holder in the discus, will be inactive for the next four weeks. He broke a small bone in his left leg.
Senior Mark Junkermann, who was second in the 3,000 meters in the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. outdoor meet last year, will compete at the same distance tonight in the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. Indoor Championships at Oklahoma City. He is the only Bruin entry.
USC triple jumper Greg Harper will also compete in the NCAA meet, along with four members of the women’s team--Yvette Bates and Wendy Brown in the triple jump, Michelle Taylor in the 400 meters and Lesley Noll in the 800.
